NCY MILKY BAND - BURN' IN (BMM RECORDS)
SO, NCY IS NOT NYC, IT'S NANCY, PLACE OF ORIGIN OF THESE YOUNG JAZZSTERS.
BUT, WHY AM I TYPING IN CAPITAL LETTERS? MAYBE THE EXCITEMENT?
Well, Ncy not New York then, and this milky band is no BBNG but they are following close, making crazy, intelligent, geeky future jazz sounds full of bravado and new age passion.
And, ok, BadBadNotGood seem to be their heroes, yet, they manage to produce a fusion of crispy soundz for the wicked and the not so wicked too.
Magic Polo starts the proceedings with a cacophony of drummin leading to L'Pmbre d'un Homme and a slowly built sax solo on an electronic drum roll, smooth as warm milk.
And, then!!! Title track comes in and, wait, is this another band? Well, its not, still the crazy boys from Nancy, France. Cheerful happy vibes, get yourselves some acid, baby!
Album goes on like this, surprise after surprise, and although these boys are young, they seem determined to leave their mark quick.
Can't wait for their next one. Crazy shit y'all.
Some kind of jazz.
